I read or heard somewhere a long time ago that when you have a sore throat you should chew a clove of garlic.
So I tried it and boy did it work. But to be honest, chewing garlic takes a lot of guts because the garlic packs a serious punch. I just resort to the occasional bite while sucking it for 5 to 10 minutes. Then I throw it away.
Alternative to this is to crush 3 cloves garlic in a glass jar. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the allicin (anti-bacterial and anti-viral ingredient in garlic) to form. Pour 1/2 cup boiling water over garlic and let steep overnight. (Cannot remember where I saw this).
